With the official inauguration of De Montel – Terme Milano, the city rediscovers a symbolic place in its history, now transformed into a cutting-edge model of urban wellness. In the heart of the San Siro district, where the former early-20th-century Liberty-style stables once stood, Europe’s largest natural urban thermal park comes to life — a project where sustainability meets design.
Over 10,000 square meters of outdoor areas surrounding the thermal pools, sensory paths and relaxation spaces are furnished with creations by the company, designed by internationally renowned designers such as Ludovica Serafini + Roberto Palomba, Marco Acerbis and Christophe Pillet, creating unique settings that perfectly reflect the welcoming and sophisticated spirit of the space.
With De Montel – Terme Milano, a new thermal identity is born for the city, capable of combining health, leisure and territorial enhancement. The restoration of the former royal stables, abandoned for decades, represents a strategic intervention to revitalize the San Siro district, enriching it with a public, accessible function deeply rooted in Milanese history. A project that looks to the future without forgetting the memory of a place that has been part of the city’s urban identity since the early 1900s.
The center uses natural thermal water drawn from an aquifer 396 meters deep, rich in sulfates, bicarbonates and minerals with proven beneficial properties, making the wellness experience authentic and deeply connected to the territory.
The project is the result of the international Reinventing Cities program promoted by the C40 network, which involved cities around the world in identifying abandoned or underused public sites to be redeveloped, and private stakeholders organized in multidisciplinary teams to propose solutions addressing climate challenges, including:
Special attention has been devoted to environmental sustainability, the core of the project: the center is equipped with solar panels installed on rooftops, three rainwater collection tanks used for irrigation and internal maintenance, and an advanced pool-covering system that allows efficient temperature control while minimizing heat dispersion.
The Venice lounge armchairs, designed by Ludovica Serafini + Roberto Palomba, welcome visitors in areas overlooking the thermal pools with their generous design and fluid weave of padded ropes inspired by the nautical world. The wooden structure embraces deep, enveloping cushions upholstered in technical fabric, creating an oasis of comfort refined in both aesthetics and functionality. The Venice armchairs blend seamlessly with the surrounding context, enhancing the overall sense of relaxation through harmonious colors and natural materials.
Minimalism and comfort come together perfectly in the Ever living armchairs designed by Christophe Pillet, featured in the spacious relaxation areas among the elegant and light-filled interiors of the complex. Crafted from smoothly contoured natural teak with padded seating upholstered in durable leather in earthy tones, these armchairs combine the warmth of wood with the Nordic-inspired design that has long defined the French designer’s work. Their light yet solid structure encourages a relaxed posture, ideal for both social interaction and quiet meditation.
The Leaf two-seater sofa, part of the extensive collection designed by architect and designer Marco Acerbis, fits naturally into the transitional spaces between the park and the wellness areas. It highlights the brand’s ability to create furnishings with fluid design, capable of meeting the technical requirements of outdoor use while offering a structured aesthetic that bridges indoor and outdoor living. Inspired by leaf morphology, its biomorphic design is paired with sustainable materials: an aluminum frame, eco-friendly customized upholstery, and water-repellent, removable cushions. Leaf is a tribute to the symbiosis between humans and nature, embodying a lifestyle in which well-being and environmental responsibility are deeply intertwined.
With a nod to haute couture, the Allure living armchairs, also by Christophe Pillet, stand out for their sartorial attention to detail. The seat profile is highlighted by balanced volumes and visible stitching in eco-leather that defines both the seat and backrest. The painted aluminum structure blends with the softness of vibrant fabrics, resulting in furniture with strong aesthetic character. Ideal for the most exclusive lounge areas of the center, the Allure armchairs offer a seating experience conceived for refined well-being.
In the outdoor areas overlooking the expansive park, under the shade of the large Athena umbrellas, the Dolcevita Wood lounge armchairs express the most romantic side of outdoor living. FSC-certified teak wood combines with the lightness of nautical ropes and quick-dry foam padding. The result is a sophisticated and authentic lounge chair that invites guests to surrender to the slow rhythms of thermal rituals.
In the outdoor park dedicated to sunbathing and open-air relaxation, the iconic Riviera deck chairs also find their place — lightweight, foldable and versatile — alongside the Nunù sun loungers, perfect for those who wish to enjoy the silence of the thermal environment in complete comfort, enveloped by the quality of Talenti materials.
This selection of furnishings confirms De Montel – Terme Milano’s commitment to seeking Italian excellence in order to offer an authentic, high-level experience where design is not only aesthetics, but also function, ergonomics and sustainability. In collaboration with Talenti Outdoor Living, wellness takes shape.
